THE PIANO PROJECT | Canada 2017

  

When I arrived on Salt Spring, British Columbia, Canada , 2 months in, my hand was still very stiff from my healed fracture of my wrist. Ideas of projects came in and unfortunately I couldn't do them all in my time I gave me on Salt Spring - the city is calling ! But I'm extremely happy that I was able to get involved in the piano project. Brian who runs a shop 'Foxes At Play' in Ganges on Salt Spring started with some friends and help from the shops in town to place pianos around the island. Every piano is painted differently. While wokring on my piano several days, I have met a lot of locals and travellers but what was the best experience was watching piano players who are travelling discovering the piano. First they just love seeing the piano, then they realise it's there to be played, still holding their excitement back but once they realise it is in tune, they radiate so much joy and then they play! It's beautiful to see and hear their withholded passion pouring out !
